Phil was a monster who knew what to do
He had but one
foot, and only one shoe
He knew his
one foot would fill up his one shoe,
So Phil put
his one foot right in his one shoe
And fill
Phil’s shoe it did do
And Phil loved
his shoe
But Phil’s
shoe would fit Phil if he just never grew
But grow he
did do
And he grew,
and he grew
And soon,
Phil’s foot grew right out of Phil’s shoe
It grew out of
the front and the bottom and top
It grew out of
the back and he wished it would stop
Soon Phil knew
something else that was new
That his foot
was now much, much too big for his shoe
But Phil loved
his shoe
Phil was a
monster who didn’t know what to do
He had but one
bare foot, with no shoe
Phil didn’t
know, but Phil’s daddy knew
That there was
a way to find Phil a new shoe
For there was
a place, a store daddy knew
And this place
was always chock full of one shoes
They had shoes
that would fit on a hoof or a claw
They had shoes
that would fit on a wing or a paw
They even had
shoes that would fit on a fin
And Phil found
a shoe he could fit his foot in
So …
Phil was a
monster who knew what to do
He had but one
foot, and one brand new shoe
Phil knew his
one foot would fill up his one shoe
So Phil put
his one foot right in his one shoe
And fill
Phil’s shoe it did do
And Phil loved
his new shoe.
And his old
shoe, too.
